Still defiant in Parsippany

That would be the board of education, which continues to refuse an order by the county superintendent of schools to rescind the contract of superintendent LeRoy Seitz, which runs counter to the state’s new cap on superintendents’ salaries.

Rather than do that, the district has sued the state. That action likely will do nothing more than cost taxpayers money.

Anthony Mancuso, the board president, compounds the problem by not talking publicly about it. Back when I was still at the Daily Record, Mancuso said he didn’t like how one of our reporters was reporting the story. Fine. The solution is to talk out any problem that exists, not to stop speaking¬†about a matter of public concern. That’s unprofessional and childish.

It’s a traffic accident, this whole thing. Next to Jersey Shore, Parsippany is becoming the laughingstock of NJ. Here we have school board members who fight amongst themselves, while the leader of the board makes unilateral decisions and decides to take on the governor of the state in a public fist fight. Mancuso gets an F in politics. Look at Corey Booker the Dem playing nice with Chris Christie – he may not always agree, but he figures out how to play nice and get some things he wants out of it. I know a mayor is different than a school board , but really, when the governor is out for blood, you don’t keep poking him. This mess is bad for the taxpayers and bad for the schools – the only person who benefits is Seitz.
