Cable TV and the poor

There has been much in the news the last few days about a fund created to help the poor and disabled with their cable TV bills.

The prompt was the move by the Christie Administration to use the $9.2 million for other purposes. The fallout in some sectors has included ridiculing those down on their luck.  That’s human nature, one supposes, but, really now, I see nothing wrong with making life more pleasant for a disabled shut-in.

No matter, if the fund is not going to be used for its intended purpose, let’s stop collecting the fee from customers in the first place.
