Honored by the freeholders

Yep, that was the story today for myself and reporter Mike Daigle. Both of us were victims of Gannett budget cuts and the freeholders gave us both resolutions thanking us for our service to the newspaper and the county.

That was nice.  The vote was 4-3. 🙂

Actually, the vote was unanimous.

Anywho, the curious thing is that the freeholders, who merely preside over a budget of $300 million plus are no longer being covered by any newspaper. The Ledger stopped coverage a few months ago and with Daigle gone, there will no longer be any Daily Record coverage. It is true that some of what the freeholders do is routine, but still, no coverage at all is pretty sad.

The way I figure, you’re still here keeping an eye on things. And congratulations the honor bestowed on you and Daigle was well deserved.
