Trash woes in Roxbury

These are tough times for janitors and sanitation workers. Many governing bodies are looking to save money by eliminating staffers and turning those tasks over to private hands.

The township council in Roxbury tonight is scheduled to vote on a plan to do just that. The proposal will take garbage pick-up away from the DPW and give it to a private contractor.

The general public probably does not care all that much who picks up the garbage _ as long as it is picked up. But let’s remember that these are hard-working people who may lose their jobs.
