Chatham school officials respond

Asked tonight about the governor’s comments, Steve Barna, the president of the board,  wondered how Christie can look at a high achieving district like the Chathams and “hurl darts” at the board. Barna said he would love to have Christie, who lives a short distance away in Mendham Township, visit the district and see how well it is doing.

Jonathan Chatinover, a board member who spoke to the governor at a recent town hall meeting in Parsippany, said the board is representing the taxpayers, He noted that voters in the district overwhelmingly backed the school district;’s budget last spring and that they have been consistently doing so for 20 years.

Chatham has a great school system They used to have two high schools. They had the wisdom to merge a few years back. In many ways they are a role model for other districts to follow.
That said, they are afforded a tax base that some other Morris County towns do not have. So all things are not equal. Are they better then the rest? Are the folks there just smater? Why are they doing so much better?
They havebeen so blessed with so much. They seem to set high standards.
I believe they do well because they believe they are good and they expect to be the best and succed. Others towns should take note of this mindset. As with any task, people who expect to do well seem to get ahead. It also has to do with your work ethic and what you expect from others
