Father Brown …

That is how he was known around the halls of Morris County government.

Father Patrick Brown of St. Vincent dePaul R.C. Church in Long Hill was the jail chaplain and often officiated at formal Morris County ceremonies. I saw him most recently at a 9/11 ceremony. There was always something amusing  about Brown’s invocation, if one can use that term to describe something as reverant as an invocation.

Anywho, it was that he had trouble pronouncing the names of freeholders he was praising, He could handle Murphy and Feyl, but Schrier and Cabana were different matters and do not even ask about Inglesino and when he was prosecutor, Rubbinaccio.

As I said, that was amusing, But this isn’t — Brown pleaded guilty the other day to tax evasion on about $63,000 he diverted from parish funds between 2004 and 2009.
