Religion, Obama and Christie

An Eagleton Institute poll out today reveals that 12 percent of those responding think that President Obama is a  Muslim. That is, at least, far fewer than the number nationwide who think the president is a Muslim, which, of course, says something good about New Jersey.

Now, the poll also asked people about Chris Christie’s religion. Most did not know what it was. .
He is a Catholic.

I must question why such polls are taken. Who cares what religion a president or governor is, or for that matter, if he is religious at all.

  1. Tea Party voter says:

Fred, you are too young to remember, but John Kennedy’s religon (catholic) was an issue in his campaign. And wasn’t Rommney being a mormon in the press? My prediction is that Harry Reid being in a cult (mormon) will be his downfall I do think some people care, Angle’s campaign will use it to win.

  2. Ed Ramirez says:

The only time it would matter is when the President is professing to be one religion and is another.

  3. Bob Grant says:

Take a pill, Ed, President Obama is a Christian.

  4. P says:

I suspect that as long as people publicize the results of these polls, pollsters will continue to ask people these questions

  5. Ed Ramirez says:

You take a pill Dan I never said he was not a Christian, I only stated that the only time that religion would matter is if he were lying about it. It is the President’s economic plans that have me worried. It is his class warfare that has me concerned. Hopefully after November we can get some relief.

  6. Bob Grant says:

    Ed,

Take another pill, this is Bob, not Dan. Class warfare? I take it that you mean you want the super-rich to get richer and everyone else can go hang. Why are the tea baggers funded by the super-rich? Is it because they want everyone to succeed in America? Hardly.

  7. Dan Grant says:

Bob maybe you are misjudging Ed. He could be talking about the following Menbers of his own party. BTW Ed I’m Dan. “The only time religion would matter is if they were lying about it.”

You mean like lying about your adherence to religous beliefs you don’t follow? Do you think there is a religion that would approve of calling hookers from the Senate floor as Vitter did? Do you mean like living in a Evangelically supported House to show your family values and then paying off the husband of the Aide you are stooping? Like Ensign. How about using your religion to show a platform for bashing Gays and then engaging in gay sex ? Like Larry Craig. My religion teaches us not to judge “lest ye be judged” but like everyone I am not perfect so I wll judge them. These were the people you were talking about right Ed?
