Getting zany in New York

Get a load of ths story:

The New York Post’s State Editor Fred Dicker was involved in a confrontation with Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino outside a Business Council of New York State dinner in Bolton Landing last night, during which Dicker got in Paladino’s face a bit, demanding evidence to back up Paladino’s claim that Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, Paladino’s Democratic opponent, cheated on his wife.

Paladino tells Dicker: “I want to know why you sent your goons after my daughter.”

The New York Post has recently run stories on Paladino’s former mistress and their 10-year-old daughter, sending a photographer to the house where they live.

When Dicker continues to press him, Paladino says: “You send another goon to my daughter’s house, I’ll take you out, buddy.”

Dicker responds: “You’re gonna take me out? How you gonna do that?”

 “Watch,” Paladino says.

Good God. We have a conservative Republican threatening a reporter for the New York Post. That’s rich. The only comparable thing I can think of in New Jersey would be if Gov. Chris Christie would threaten the staff at 101.5 FM.

your post gives me the impression that the press is either liberal or conservaative and there is no fair and balanced reporting anymore. I am shocked! I read the New York TImes, but admittedly, not the editorials.I find that the Times “reporting ” gives more facts than any other newspaper. What I find a waste of time is the headline like JOhn Doe is arrested, and you read the article and JOhn Doe is never identified and the facts are sketchy. I always hear the excuse, that times are tough and we (the newspper) have no money to do its job. I think it is too much copying and pasting from the AP To get back to your point, why don’t you hire a conservative at the DR?

  2. Kevin Nedd says:

Another Tea Party candidate who clearly isn’t ready for his close-up.

    Sunshine is the best disinfectant.

  3. Tea Party voter says:

Kevin, I have no idea what you said.

  4. Ed Ramirez says:

You are missing the bigger story, Dems and their allies in the media have nothing to run on so the run with sorted stories about past affairs and they hope the voters will fall for it. See you in November.

  5. P says:

Unfortunately, after Al D’Amato ran it into the ground, the Republican Party in NY never recovered, so it’s nomination is regularly up for grabs and it appears that just about any lunatic can get the nod. However, Paladino is “only” about 10% behind Cuomo, which is a real indication of how poorly Dems are doing this year. He should be ahead by 30 – 40%, and pulling away.

P.S. I’m not sure the guys at 101.5 are Conservatives as much as they are anti-incumbent and anti-politician. By the end of Christie’s term of office, they’ll be trashing him too.

  6. Ted Doty says:

    Pbrain,
You really must focus on the issue at hand. Paladino, a gubernatorial candidate, physically threatened a reporter. Nobody cares about your half-baked, simplistic political analysis or pays attention to your feeble attempts to redirect conversation.

  7. Dan Grant says:

Paladino is an uncouth piece of garbage who belongs on either “Jersey Shore ” or “Real housewives of NJ”. All it shows is how desperate the Tea Party is and how weak Lazio was. he will be a10 pt loser in November. This is like the Christian Right take over of politics in the 80s. All they accomplished was electing some spouse cheaters and gay guys pretending to be straight by representing “Family values”.

  8. P says:

Ted – Last year you kept telling me that Corzine was going to win. How did that work out?

Are you now saying that there isn’t going to be a Republican Landslide in four and a half weeks time? I’d love to hear your estimation of what’s coming on November 2.

P.S. Sometimes the simplest explanations are the most accurate (see Occam’s Razor). It’s only when you have to twist yourself into a pretzel to make the facts fit your theory that you pretend that you have to pretend that you’re a sophisticated political philosopher.

Dan – A ten point victory by Cuomo will be a major disappointment to the anointed one. And talk about “changing the subject,” and misdirection – “This is like the Christian Right take over of politics in the 80s. All they accomplished was electing some spouse cheaters and gay guys pretending to be straight by representing “Family values.”

  9. Ted Doty says:

Dan, after threatening a reporter, I’m not sure Paladino is worthy of the publicity he’d get on a bad reality show

  10. Dan Grant says:

Sorry Ted butinour loutish society this guy will be a hero to the Tea Party. The fact tat the Reporter is a straight down the middle guy doesn’t mean a thing to these people.
    P. Ten Points is a good victry in this climate where truth and justice have vanished in the Tea. It is also not misdirection it is exactly the same as a buch of phoney Christians tryingto take over the reins of power. In fact look for the frauds like Ralph Reed lurking in the backround.

  11. Ed France says:

Too bad about Mr.Paladino. He had a chance of winning. With so many unhappy voters, he makes stuff like this an issue.
He will be remembered as just another business man who tried to run for office but had no clue about the average person. He can spend his money on ads etc,but where and what is his message?
Cuomo may as well start working on his first press conference speech.

  12. Tea Party voter says:

I agree Ted and Delaware did not do such a great job at vetting.
