Diane K. Weeks

Some sad news. Diane K. Weeks, a Mendham Township attorney and political activist, died Monday. Weeks, who was in her fifties, was recently diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Weeks certainly made an impression _ always well spoken and articulate, she was a forceful advocate for her cause. She was also a frequent contributor to the Daily Record and a good friend of mine. Her absence from the Morris County political scene will be noticed.

Diane was someone who truly cared for Mendham Township and for her friends. Her presence on saturdays at the Brookside Post Office, her political efforts in the Town and in the County and her frienship will be missed by many of us.

I am so sorry to hear of Diane’s passing. I was fortunate to serve on the Board of the Morris Area Girl Scout Council at the same time as Diane. She always had a fully informed opinion regarding every matter that was before the Board and contributed greatly to that body’s decision-making abilities. Such a colorful and dedicated woman. Her passing is definitely a loss for our community.

Farewell my friend. I will miss your passsion for justice and your commitment to fairness and equality. I will miss your sharp intellectual wit, wry smilt when you knew you were right, your laugh and even just the sound of your determined voice when you thought I needed a “swift kick in the pants” to keep me moving. Most of all, I will miss your friendship. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, now it is we who must carry the torch. Rest now, my friend, rest well.
