Still interesting in Chatham Township

You may have seen that the township committee pulled a resolution the other night that would have rehired the “retiring” municial administrator in a scheme that would allow him to get both a salary and a pension.

That seems like good news; but maybe not. It’s possible the deal is just being delayed. This is something that need watching by Chatham Tow nship residents; a man getting paid a salary and also a pension for the same job is an abuse of the taxpayers.

  1. P says:

Sadly, the taxpayers who are getting abused aren’t the ones in Chatham. They actually save money because the person takes a smaller salary and the state picks up their HC benefits. The township makes out like bandits. The soon to be broke state pension system, on the other hand, gets another retiree before his time, as does the state retirement HC system.

  2. Absolutely, P, and the township committee is made up of alleged Republicans. This really is a case of the committee helping out someone they like. In a way, there is nothing evil about that, But when it costs taxpayers’ money and sets a very bad example, it’s wrong.
