Sheriff going negative against Olimpio; Is he worried?

Morris County Sheriff Edward V. Rochford is doing his best to try to deflate any chance challenger Steve Olimpio has to beat him in next Tuesday’s primary. The sheriff’s latest campaign mailing highlights the fact Olimpio was a Democrat until earlier this year. The piece pictures Olimpio standing next to a donkey; In fact, he is petting the donkey on the rear end. Cute.

Stating that he switched parties is ‘going negative’?

I know some would say being called a Democrat is an insult, but I didn’t expect it from you Fred.

  2. The point is that the piece was anti-Olimpio, as opposed to being pro-Rochford

  3. hfa says:

when do you ever remember a 100% posistive campaign? Maybe Dean Gallo? Leanna Brown? YOU know, Rodney F’s campaign is positive.

  4. Edward France says:

The sheriff is not going negative. He is simply pointing out a fact. People are free to change paties. It is wonderful that mr. Olimpio joined the party of lower taxes. But he ran just last term as a democrat. He was a member of that party for 25 years. If those are the facts, how can that be negative?

  5. Edward France says:

Edward rochford is the better horse in this race. For a few positive reasons: experience, knowledge, has saved the taxpayers money, has an open door policy to the residents, returns phone calls, will meet people one on one, never ducks the issues, answers the rough questions, knows Morris county in and out, helps people out, has a good heart, good personality,is a role model for how an elected official should conduct ones self. I wish the other guy well for at least trying. But Morris county benifits from people like this present sheriff. Just my observation.

  6. Tea Party voter says:

Well, is the new mailer of Grossi, Krichus, Mastrangelo negative or are they just stating facts about Doug?

  7. Tea Party voter says:

OMG Former Daily Record publisher to head Springfield, Ill., newspaper SO that is where Fred has been.

  8. Tea Party voter says:

yea yea, I know, I am only one underpaid person. But election day is Tuesday. This is when the NY Times looks at you.

  9. A Cute Observer says:

    Olimpio is a Democrat.
    Olimpio is a PBA official.
Olimpio couldn’t shine Ed Rochford’s shoes.

    Three strikes against Olimpio.

  10. Frank La Rocca says:

Steve Olimpio for Sheriff. I am a firm believer in term limits. If the state does not want to impose them, then I’m all for candidates challenging previously uncontested offices. Elected office is a privelige, not a lifelong career.
    Go Steve!

  11. Tom says:

    Ed Rochford deserves re-election
