No freeholder run for Tim Smith

Roxbury’s Tim Smith has pulled out of a Morris County freeholder campaign he was never really in.

Smith said he wanted to devote time to GEM, a government efficiency movement, he is trying to launch. The idea behind GEM is for towns and school districts to save money by consolidating and sharing services.

Smith never formally announced his candidacy, but was making the political rounds behind the scenes.

The only challenger officially in the race at the moment is John Krickus of Washington Twp. But there is plenty of time for declarations, given the fact the filing deadline is not until April.

The incumbents are Doug Cabana, Jack Schrier and James Murray.

One Response to No freeholder run for Tim Smith

The next time you talk to John Krickus, can you ask him these questions?

Will one of his campaign practices include requiring a Washington Township employee to provide him with a list of vendors with whom the township spent $10K or more so he could send each a letter on township letterhead asking for a donation to his reelection campaign? This is what the current township administrator and other township employees claimed he did when he was Mayor of Washington Township. With pay-to-play being such a big issue nowadays, I think voters will be very interested in how John responds.
