Washington, Hamilton, Lafayette …

and Ed France.

Yep, give Ed credit for one of the more creative campaign pieces you will ever see. France, who is running for the town council in Morristown is pictured standing next to statues of Washington, Hamilton and Lafayette on the Green under the headline “Men on a mission.”

Thank you fred. I just hope the residents hear the truth. They have been lied to by so many they do not trust those who try to get into office. Abuse of the voters has become the norm. Morristown is broke. If taxes go up in 2010 I am aware that so many will not be able to pay and stay. We are over taxed here. We do need a tax revolution like our great leaders staged so many years ago. The more things change, the more they stay the same. Will people wake up? Will they just get fooled again? The biggest problem in mortiseown? The voters to not know what is really going on. They have no idea how bad the spending and budget problems are . When the bills come they will find out! Could one person solve all of them? With the help of the community and some sacriface I belive so. But it has to be done now! We can’t lose any more time or rack up anymore debt.

    creative = delusional

It’s a shame when good sarcasm is lost on the slow-witted.

  3. Kevin Nedd says:

    Ed,

I like what you said above about residents hearing the truth. What do you think about an incumbent township committee candidate who allowed his county party committee send out a mailer claiming he “held average tax increases to less than 2% per year”, when county certified tax documentation clearly proves the average tax increase during his tenure was actually 70% higher? Would this meet your standard of “residents hearing the truth?

    Thanks.

  4. Pravelon says:

It’s really getting close to election day.

  5. P says:

    Pravelon – Another prescient observation.

Nedd – Too inside baseball for even the most politically obsessed followers of this Blog. If you have a point to make, just make it. This isn’t LVP.com

  6. Kevin Nedd says:

I think you are right. The GOP lies are getting bigger and more frequent.

  7. Ed France says:

Kevin, I do not belive anyone should not tell the truth about what is going on with tax payers money. The truth matters. What else do we have?

  8. Kevin Nedd says:

    P,

The question is not that complicated. Either he approves of lying deceitful campaign mailers or he doesn’t.

  9. P says:

Who is “he?” Ed’s not an incumbent, so you can’t be talking about him. As I noted above, there’s no frame of reference for your comment, so everyone is lost about whatever point you are trying to make.

  10. Kevin Nedd says:

    Ed,

Glad you feel this way. I would like to invite you to the November 11 Washington Township Committee Work Session where I will present the mailer mentioned above to Mayor Ken Short and ask he provide proof it correctly states he held our average tax increase to 2% during his tenure when certified Morris County tax records show the average increase to be 3.4%, which is 70% higher.

  11. P says:

Nedd – Sounds like it will be another exciting evening in Long Valley Politics, but, unfortunately, that’s the night I wash my hair. Look forward to reading your posts about the confrontation on your website.

Fred – is this what happens to local pols when they lose elections – they pursue the people who vanquished them like Ahab after the whale? First Ted, now Nedd. Hopefully Obama will have something in his health care reform to help these lost individuals.

  12. Kevin Nedd says:

    P,

Please check your facts. Mayor Short was not my opponent in my re-election bid. Nice try to change the subject though.

My sole purpose for pursuing this issue aligns with what Ed said, “I do not believe anyone should not tell the truth about what is going on with tax payers money. The truth matters. What else do we have?”

Mayor Short should and will have to publicly answer for his attempt to deceive the voters.

And in case you have been to busy to check my blog today, the Washington Township CFO has provided written confirmation the average tax increase during Mayor Short’s tenure as a committeeman is 3.5%.

  13. P says:

The subject was Ed France’s mailer, not your problems in LV. I just pointed out that you tried to hijack this thread for your own political purposes. I guess you’re not getting enough hits on your own blog.

  14. Kevin Nedd says:

    P,

    1. Ed’s initial answer to Fred emphasizing “truth” in campaign communications opened the door to my example of where Washington Township Mayor Ken Short isn’t living up to this standard.

    2. If Fred thought my comments were inappropriate or off topic, I am sure he would not have published them.

    3. My blog averages about 150 hits a day and is approaching 9K hits in total. I am quite pleased with how well it has been received.

    4. You keep “pointing” things out…I am sure some is listening…somewhere.

  15. Ed France says:

    Kevein,
Hang in there. I don’t know if I can make the meeting you mentioned. It does sound interesting. I am so busy with this local election here in Morristown.
I will be happy to have my life back after November 3rd. It has been great and I have met so many nice people.I hope I am able to help my town after all is said and done. At the end of the day helping the community you live in is very important. Running for local office takes, money, time, networking skills and help from good people. It can get mean and nasty.Even in a local election. But even the mean folks have a right to their point of view. Don’t let the mean people bother you. They have a place in this world too. I have found that over time people who were once enemies can turn into friends.Go fiqure.

  16. Ed France says:

    Kevin,
Sorry about the typo.Have not had much sleep this week.Take care. Keep going.

  17. Kevin Nedd says:

    Ed,

Having served a term on our Committee, I hear you.

You are correct in saying everyone has a right to their opinion. They just dont have a right to their own facts!

    Good luck today!
