Morristown heating up?

The race for mayor of Morristown should heat up with debates between mayoral candidates Jim Gervasio and Tim Dougherty set for the next two weeks.

Gervasio set the tone in a meeting with Daily Record editors this week when he said the difference between the men is “character.”

Hmm … meaning???

For one thing, Gervasio talked about Dougherty’s campaign getting a lot of money from outside of Morristown. The Democrat’s campaign finance report, for instance, shows a $2,600 contribution from Phoenix Contractors Inc of Fairfield, $2,600 from Martin Statfeld of Livingston and $2,400 from Greg Gottlieb of Florham Park.

Dougherty said he doesn’t get involved in fundraising and that he didn’t know the donors.

More about this in the coming days.

You folks from the Daily Record talk about these donations but you never talk about the process that is called “Wheeling”. If you believe that Dougherty does not know about his fund raising well I have a bridge I want to sell you. Also why is it you are not talking about the connection between Dougherty and his Bar buddies. The town prosecutor in the bag for Dougherty and he is holding off on the case against the Dark Horse and the Dark Horse owner is a big donor to Dougherty. Remember if you smell corruption follow the money. Under Dougherty Morristown will be run over by the bar owners and the outside interest of Essex.
