Sierra Club: Don't use our logo

The Republican Governors’ Association launched a TV commercial today criticizing the environmental record of Gov. Jon Corzine. It backed up its points with comments from the Sierra Club.

The club had no problem with that, but it objected to use of the club’s logo in the ad … It said:

While the facts in the ad are accurate, our logo cannot be used without the club’s permission. The logo is trademarked and can only be used by the club and candidates who have received a Sierra Club endorsement.

The compliance department of the national Sierra Club will be sending a cease and desist letter to the Republican Governor’s Association asking them to remove the logo from the advertisement.
