Honesty with your favorite team

I sure I speak for many sports fans in saying that it’s both amusing and irritating to see politicians look totally stupid when they try to ingratiate themselves with some sports fans by talking about the local football and baseball team. A classic example is when Hillary Clinton said she was a Yankee fan when she really was not upon entering the U.S. Senate race in New York

We also have seen politicians afraid to give an opinion on sports, because they think they are going to offend someone.

Chris Christie, thankfully, is different. He’s a Met fan, and NOT a Yankee fan. And he has no problem stating it.  After winning the GOP primary the other night, Christie talkled about New Jersey being split between New York and Philadelphia and, of course, the Mets and the Phillies.  Some in the crowd expected him to say Yankees as well. But he did not.

Good…. The Yankees get enough attention.
